High Talent, Depth of Perception, Soulful and Heartfelt. These are just some of the elements that make up this cutting edge Canadian musical force. Fields of Green are on the cusp of world-wide recognition. A musical journey that started just four years ago, and one that promises to be with us for decades to come.

It all began in 2008, amidst the dusty winds and fragrant wine vineyards of Kelowna, in one man’s basement (specifically, Kyle Tubbs’): a journey of musical proportions unfolded and formed what is now FIELDS OF GREEN. After releasing his debut solo album in 2007, Kyle was approached by Johnny Jansen to form a full band together in lieu of the one he would take on tour as back up; after some additions and subtractions and additions again (including Connor Tkach and Kevin Dreger), they are now the very model of a major, modern band. Striking the perfect chord, this multi-talented and multi-faceted quartet has gone on to achieve great success. They have won Rock Recording of the Year from BC Interior Music Awards for their 2011 debut album “Blanktown,” made the Top 20 in 2011 and 2012’s The Peak Performance Project, and came in 1st place out of over 400 applicants for the 2012 Vancouver FOX Seeds contest. They’ve been busy, but despite their young age, with heaps and mounds of energy and creativity, FIELDS OF GREEN have put in the work, creating music you want to hear on the radio.

With influences like Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, Mute Math, Elliot Smith, Kings of Leon, and The Beatles, FIELDS OF GREEN have developed a somewhat international sounding style—imagine each member split half the year in London and LA during their childhoods and in that time gathered a reserve of inspiration. They have paired a structured, contained rock with an alternatively melodious, almost folk-like, roll, creating one cohesive and innovative sound. Their new 5-song EP “FOG,” produced by legend Garth Richardson and Paul Boechler, provides a perfect soundtrack for a summer party or road trip. Slightly less soothing than their debut album, “FOG” holds a unique balance between a sharp, hard rock edge and softer melodies.

Having just finished touring with Juno Award winning Arkells, FIELDS OF GREEN are focusing on summer festivals, with appearances already booked at Keloha and Ponderosa—so give your ears a treat and catch them live.
